Enjoyed the holiday but apartments are average

We have just got back from a one week stay here with my husband, 13 year old son and parents. The location is good, out of the main strip but only a 5-10 minute walk. There is a supermarket for basics across the road or a bigger one further down the hill. The apartments are fairly compact, the third person sleeps on the sofa which was also fine. They are basic but have in what you need. The beds/bedding etc are very clean but the floor area not and they are very tired around the floor tiling, dirty skirting boards and are in need of some TLC. Even after the cleaners have been the flooring is not very clean. There is no air con but not really needed as leaving the balcony door open or bed room window allows for some breeze to circulate. The pool area looks nice, the out side bar is good value but no chance you can get a sun bed u less u put your towel on at 630 to 7am despite it being stated in reception the pool does not open u til 930 and beds cannot be reserved. This needs policing as when we were going to the beach 10ish all the bed gone but hardly anyone on them!! The bar staff are lovely and friendly, the reception staff are too but we didn’t need to use reception much tbh. All in all we enjoyed our stay in the resort and the holiday was lovely but so would say the apartments are average at best.

Staff very nice, apartments are getting refurbished, agree because ours was a bit tired, pool area needs more beds to accommodate everyone, but overall it was pleasant enough

Amazing

This was our second stay at plaza azul the apartment is very good with balcony off the bedroom with a sea view and a pool view balcony off the front room when both set of doors were open it let a nice breeze through . Apartment was clean and everything you could ask for and only a short walk to the strip .

A great apartment, with facilities.

Really impressed with this place. We booked last minute (well, 2 weeks prior) and have to say it's a really good self catering place. We arrived of an evening and check in was quick, we had an apartment on the 2nd floor (A32) and it was lovely. I was concerned it was above the main bar area and might be noisy - no problem at all with noise though. We didnt hire a fan - zero need to lol, it's the Canaries and theres a constant breeze. We opened our bedroom window and the living room doors to the balcony and had a lovely strong breeze moving through the rooms, kept us really cool. Fan hire is €3 a day or €15 a week - I'd definitely check the room before opting to pay for the fan as the breeze might do a good job for you as it is. Safe hire is €15 for the week with a €5 deposit for the key (a physical key rather than one with a key code entry). TV remote is €10 deposit, returnable upon handing back the remote. Kitchenette was more than equipped. Cutlery, bread knife, pans, kettle, microwave and a 2 ring hob. Didnt use any of it lol, we ate out, but it was there. The best bit was the fridge with the built-in icebox/freezer at the top. It even came with an ice cube tray pre-drilled with some ice, bonus! Fridge kept everything g very chilled, freezer for ice and ice creams! Tea towel provided - just need to remember to bring a sponge and washing up liquid. Clean apartment throughout. Sofa bed aspect possibly not the greatest, I wouldnt fancy it myself but for younger children it was fine - it was just the sofa really. A bit thin a 'mattress' but for young ones it's fine. Bedroom was good - as always, 2 singles pushed together to make a double but that's standard. Beds I found comfy, individual tastes though I guess. Husband wasnt so much a fan - he prefers softer, but I liked it. Pillow was fab! You do only get one per person which might be unexpected for some but it is a memory foam one and so comfortable! I didnt miss having a 2nd pillow at all, the 1 was just fine. Lots of storage space, shelves and hanging space. Curtains were not black out ones per se but they were thick enough that they did really darken the room - when I closed them again in the morning before leaving for the day (so as to keep out the sun) the room went really dark even then. Bathroom is good. They give you 2 little bars of soap in a pack, hand towels and bath towels (small bath towels that is). They dont dry so well though, maybe they've been used so much but you would run it over your body but it didnt absorb the water. I wondered if they had had so much build up of suncream over the uses perhaps and so lost some absorbency. The balcony has a table and 2 chairs, they reclined really nicely and were quite comfy. Also have those pullout drying racks and a umbrella to shield the sun. I did notice those on the ground floor (at pool level) didnt always have the same chairs as we did, the 2nd floor did though and they were much better than the others. Pool area - clean, tidy. Beds are stacked up overnight, come 7.30am most were then taken in the usual 'pop your towel on' style .....and then weren't used until mid afternoon. Yawn. Same old thing. The beds are actually really not great, as others have said, they are in a fixed position so you cant prop up to read a book or anything. We used them once and then opted to not bother. The last morning was quite entertaining for us....the chains around the beds weren't unlocked until 9am! There were all these people stood around waiting to put their towels on them lol, quite entertaining to watch! There is a pool bar (and one side of the pool has tables and chairs) which is pretty reasonable. 2 pints for €5, 2 cocktails for €10, a big plate of chips for €5. They do pizza, burgers, toastie and 2 breakfast options so theres always that as an option if you dont want to stroll down the road to eat. On the last day they have a luggage room to use and they also have a really fab shower room to use to get changed in if you need to after checkout (11am). Its a large room with a toilet, sink, shower (with handrails if needed) and a hairdryer (no hairdryer in room by the way). They also provide towels for you to use for it, just ask at reception. It's only the 1 room and if there are lots of families on a later flight then do bear this in mind and dont just expect to use it 30 mins before the coach is due as it may already be in use. Location great. I read a few reviews of it being "up a steep hill". Now I realise this is all relative but I didnt think this was that accurate. To be able to confirm my view I did record it a few times on my Garmin just for curiosity sake. From the bottom of the road to the front door is 0.25mile, so 400m in metric. It is a total ascent of 60ft, so around 20m give or take. It really is only that amount! I read one person say they were a fit person and they found it a struggle. I am not a fit person and I did not find it a struggle. An older, infirm person may do yes, which is why I did say it is all relative but it took me 6mins from bottom to top whilst I was carrying a relatively full cool bag lol. Did it twice a day most days. The first part is 'steeper' and then it flattens right out again. A shop is opposite, closes about 930pm I think, well stocked. Hyperdino half way down the road and a full range. Lots of restaurants nearby, you will find everything you want. We took the bus a couple of times to visit other areas, theres a stop at the top of the road and easy to use, minimum fare of €1.40. They clean and replace towels 4 times a week, bedding once a week. Think I've covered everything, can always ask if theres something I've missed. Happy holiday!

Fantastic!

Absolutely lovely apartments, so clean, pool area lovely and staff so generous and friendly. Ideal location, opposite 2 supermarkets and an incredible bar - The Spinnaker, some of the best food I’ve had on island. The pool bar is fantastic and very fair prices. Staff at pool bar are lovely too. Was here for 10 days and already hoping to come back in January. Best apartments I’ve stayed in years.
