Enjoyable holiday and have already booked to return.
The hotel is typically Spanish and is a pleasant stroll to the centre of Nerja. We are 72 years old and found the walk quite easy and pleasant. For those who have mobility issues, there are buses as well as taxis. The hotel is always kept exceptionally clean. There is a lovely sunbathing pool area with plenty of comfortable sun beds. There is a 2 hour happy hour each day. The rooms are nice with comfortable beds and a free fridge. A safe is available if you want one. There are various English TV channels on a flat screen TV. The channels included bbc1, bbc2, itv1, channel 5, BBC news and some children's channels. All rooms have balconies some large ones and some Juliet balconies There is evening entertainment some nights. The food obviously doesn't have the choice of very large hotels but there is quite a good choice. One suggestion to the hotel is when British people have a dinner of meat, potatoes and vegetables, they like gravy or the meal can be dry. Gravy was not usually offered. The staff were very friendly and helpful and special thanks to the man on reception who advised us on room request for our next visit. He also recorded the request. Our visit was in January to February and the weather was good for the time of year. We have 2 bookings already made to return to the hotel and are looking forward to the next one later in the year. Many thanks to all staff.
Lovely location for the beach and lovely hotel
Lovely location for the beach and lovely hotel. It’s about 25 mins walk along the beach into Nerja or 1 euro on the bus from outside the hotel (ran hourly pay cash on bus). Food was good but as in all hotels we have stayed in could be hotter. Caves nearby are well worth visiting but there are a lot of steps. We caught the road train which included museum and VR film both excellent. Hotel was clean and daily cleaning was excellent. Bus station is a few stops either side of the road which surprised us. Caught bus to Frigliana from there and was 1 euro 35 and was worth visiting. Nerja itself is lovely with lots of small shops and cafes.
Vairied between 1 and 5☆
Have put this in the 1☆ section as most people will read the poorest reviews first. Although the hotel itself is between 1 and 5☆ The hotel is very nice and clean, the room is excellent with kettle and fridge provided, so 5☆. Maid servicing the rooms everyday very good, tidying up and making the beds, although rather erratic. A few times we were asked to vacate the room around 10.30 - 11am so she could clean up, so no problem. A few times we went out early specially, so she could do so, and when we got back around 1.30pm, the room hadn't been touched, so had to go out again. So 3☆. The food. Breakfasts were the same old thing everyday, no virraty in the food. Same old eggs, bacon sausages, scrambled eggs ect. A lot of the times the things were left over from the day before and reheated, bacon was burnt, scrambled eggs dried up and congealed, mushrooms chewey ect. So 1☆ The tea was absolutely awful, cheap tasteless Spanish tea bags, I needed 3 in my cup and my wife needed 2 to make a partially decent cup of tea. So 1☆ again. Soft drinks weren't too bad, but on more than one occasion they were watered down. 3☆ Evening meals weren't much better than the Breakfasts, although the chef did occasionally do a variation, Pancakes 4☆ Stiry fry 5☆ (It was so good I had a second portion). Pasta sometimes quite nice, other times absolutely disgusting (Been reheated from the day before, all congealed, and hardly anyone had touched it) 1☆-3☆. Salads had always been made up from bits and pieces from the breakfast or the day before, so didn't really have much of that. So 2☆ The best parts of the breakfast and dinners were - Melons, yogurts, cream soup puddings and ice cream. So 5☆ Pineapple was not really ripe, hard and chewey, 2☆ And really annoying, in the evenings they mixed the leftovers breakfast Pineapple and Melons together, cut into chunks, so had to separate every day, as the Pineapple wasn't good. 1☆ And although the hotel is named the Nerja Club and Spa, the spa is very poor, only a small jacuzzi and no sauna or steam room, we expected all three and the changing rooms were the toilets near the so called spa. 2☆ Outdoor area and pool was good, with plenty of seating and space for sunbathing. 5☆ All in all, the hotel had good and bad points, but next time we stay in Nerja we'll find somewhere else.
Just had 12 wonderful night at hotel Nerja.. the staff are very helpful and always pleasant.. the food choice both morning and evening was extensive and wonderful.. the hotel was very clean bright and welcoming.. we had clean towels and bedding every day and room was swept dusted and mopped.. will return soon
Avoid this hotel
Just returned from 9 nights at the Nerja Club hotel. Asked to speak to he manager about issues to be told he is a very busy man as he looks after four hotels and is too busy. Rooms not clean or well presented. Was not dusted at all during 9 day visit, you could write your name in dust on furniture. If you put the towels in the bath to be changed for clean ones, staff simply hung on rail to dry and you had to use again. I am not sure i got clean towels at all in 9 days. Very poor quality too, could not dry yourself on them, had to use hair dryer. Bathroom door and frame falling to bits with bits hanging off. Beds so hard i could not sleep. Legs falling off bed so every time i turned in the night the whole bed swayed. They may have refurbished the general areas but should look at bedrooms and bathrooms as a matter of urgency. Food terrible! clearly trying to keep as cheap as possible. Chicken undercooked, same choices day after day. Poor quality. We went to the supermarket and bought our own marmalade as theirs was so bad. Stale bread. Very unsatisfactory!
