Super hotel til rimelig pris.

Fantastisk hotel med rigtig god beliggenhed. Rigtig god service. Vi havde bestilt et værelser med havudsigt og det fik vi. Simpelthen en panorama udsigt. Morgenmadsbuffeten var virkelig god. Alt hvad man kunne ønske sig. Og frisk meget frisk. Fik også anvist parkering uden problemer. Kommer meget gerne igen. Bus til Funchal lige udenfor døren.

Family weekend

The rooms are spacious and perfect for families, and they add extra beds free of charge. We found a nice deal with meals included in the restaurant. Not very organised, the receptionists informed us upon arrival that the swimming pool had a maximum time of 1h per family, and it had to be booked, which was never refered during the several e-mail exchanges regarding this booking. Due to the bad weather conditions and travelling with kids, the indoor swimming pool was an important asset. When we directly contacted the pool, they said there was no problem and we ended up spending the afternoon there. The pool is in the public gym, and we have to cross all the hotel, with 2 elevators, several flights of stairs, and no toilet inside the pool. Overall, not a good choice for families. Regarding the restaurant, food was good but the service was very confusing. Although the waiters were trying, you could understand that they were understaffed. Overall,I was not impressed, and will definitely not return.

WOW! A fantastic hotel in Madeira with beautiful views!

Overview - I visited on a business trip and my god did we receive incredible service! check-in was instant upon arrival. The staff very friendly, helpful, and clear in speaking English. The hotel overall was VERY clean, and the current COVID measures in place were safely followed. Room - Clean room, LOVED the decor, and a beautiful sea view as requested. Cleaned and disinfected daily. Pool Area - Stunning pool area with a lovely sea view. Plenty of seating both in the sun and also under canopies if you'd prefer to lay in the shade. Food/ Restaurant - Breakfast and dinner in the hotel was great. Strict covid measures for the buffet to ensure food was not contaminated or touched by other guests. Large selection. Staff - Very friendly staff and very approachable should you have any problems. Facilities - AMAZING gym! Large area, A LOT of equipment and very friendly staff to ensure you were advised should you require help. Highly Recommend - Requesting a sea view room!

Good place, amazing time.

I will make this as brief as possible. I stumbled upon a review a few weeks ago as I searched for a hotel in Funchal. It was very comprehensive so this is sort of a follow up of that one. I'll state a few need-to-knows before I focus on the property and the rest of the trip. If you plan on travelling to Madeira, make sure you fill out the online form on madeira safe dot com. You have to do this BEFORE you travel. I filled out mine the night before my flight. You'll receive a QR code which will be required by the medical team when you land in Funchal. If you haven't taken a Covid test in the U.K. you'll receive one as soon as you land and go through arrivals. There is a dedicated team waiting to escort you to the testing site which is a series of makeshift rooms with heavily PPE'd medical staff. The first team ask for the QR code you received when you filled out the online form and they'll give you three bar codes: two to pass on to the next medical staff and one for yourself. Then you proceed to the test. The test itself is horrible. One swab at the back of your throat (hello team gag) and one in each nostril. All done under 30 seconds but very uncomfortable. After that, you're free to proceed to the hotel; assuming you've booked your taxi, the driver will be waiting for you to take you to the hotel. As you wait for the results, you cannot leave the room and a member of staff will accompany you to your room. There's wifi, a mini-bar and a smart tv which allows you to connect to your Netflix account so you won't be bored if you need to isolate whilst waiting for your results. Our results were sent to us within 10 hours but by then it was close to 11 pm which was not bad because a few bars were still open down the road from the hotel. The hotel and staff: the property is right by the sea and the rooms are very cosy and clean. Generally, Madeira is a clean and tidy place. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. Because of social distancing, you have to pre-book most things from breakfast to free activities. Just call the reception to arrange which times you prefer to eat and they'll sort it. When you get to the breakfast bar, you'll be seated at a table of your choice but you cannot serve your self. A member of the catering staff will walk and serve for you what you want in your plate. A bit awkward but it is what it is. The staff are extremely helpful and I can only assume that they are doing their best in light of the circumstances. There are a lot of inclusive amenities like the sauna, gym, yoga, outdoor and indoor pools etc but again, you have to contact reception to make a booking. The favourite bit for me was swimming in the ocean outside the bar in It's a five minute walk from the hotel and you take an elevator down to level -3. There's a bar and a pool area filled with fresh sea water daily. The sea itself is right there so you can choose to lounge in the pool or dive right into the sea. The old town of Funchal is not too far away. There is a 155 bus on the next street of the hotel that goes past every 30-45 minutes and it's a 22 minute journey. There's loads to see, to do and to eat. I cannot fault Sentido Galosol. Everything was just perfect and I just wish we had stayed longer. If you're looking for a place to stay, take my word. You'll love it here. Lastly, You must show proof of a completed passenger locator form at the UK border. This applies to people entering the UK from all countries, territories and regions. It applies to UK residents and visitors. You should complete the form before you enter the UK. You can complete it any time in the 48 hour period before you are due to arrive in the UK. Make sure you leave yourself enough time to complete it. If you do not complete the form before you arrive in the UK, it might take you longer to enter the UK. The form is an online form. You will need an internet connection and details of your journey to complete it. Failure to complete the form is a criminal offence.

Solo Female Traveller

I will cover the inevitable restrictions relating to travel during a global pandemic first of all. I booked this holiday very last minute after taking a COVID test in the uk to ensure it was safe for me to travel. If you haven’t had one within 72 hours of flying you will be tested at the airport. My test was 5 days prior to flying so I had to be tested again. The airport is extremely efficient and very well organised but you must ensure that you complete the travel to Madeira on line forms before setting off as you will need the QR code once you have passed through passport control. Masks must be worn at all times during the flight and at both the UK and Madeira airports as well as during the transfer and when in public areas within the hotel. On arrival at the hotel I was greeted by a friendly team on reception who explained that I would be shown to my room, given access to WiFi etc but would not be able to leave until I had received either a text message or email confirming a clear test result. This took less than 12 hours. Don’t be tempted to leave the room before as you will not be able to re enter as the key card is not fully activated until you receive the all clear for COVID. Your evening meal on day one is likely to be in your room and they will ring your room for your order before hand. One of the biggest restrictions in place surrounds the food and if you are particularly fussy or a vegetarian you must read this part. I was half board plus which included buffet breakfast and evening meal with either wine local beer or a soft drink and water. The reality was quite different. Firstly you have to select a time slot for both breakfast and evening meal at the point of check in. I chose breakfast between 07:30 and 08:30 and evening meal between 06:45 and 07:30. This was a little annoying but I get the reasons behind it, reduced number of tables. Etc. Yes it was a buffet breakfast however it is not help yourself. You stand in line until a member of either the kitchen staff or waiting staff invite you forward. You select a plate and they walk around the buffet with you, placing what you have selected on your plate. This took away some of the enjoyment as I like to have a look round and then go back to select what has taken my fancy. Saying that there was a very good choice of local bread, cereal, dried fruit and nuts, cooked meat, cheese, salad items,fresh fruit and cooked items including made to order omelettes. Tea or coffee and water or orange juice were served at your table. The evening meal is where you might encounter problems, especially for any vegetarians out there. It is NOT a buffet. It is a set menu with a a choice of 1 starter, 1 soup, choice of 3 mains of which one is fish and one meat plus a chefs special which 80% of the time was either fish, chicken, meat or game. Plus a tasing dessert. And this is where the problems start, during my 7 night stay I 50% of the soup soup were meat or fish based. 80% of the starters were meat or fish based and I believe I only saw 2 or 3 vegetarian friendly main course options out of the 21 main course dishes on offer throughout the week. I’m fairly sure not a single dish was suitable for vegans. And if you are there for 2 weeks the second week appears to be a repeat of the first. I am quite an adventurous eater and to be honest with exception of the squid, which in my opinion was massively overcooked the food was fresh, tasty and mostly enjoyable. Points were lost by having to book a time slot for meals as this took away the spontaneity of being able to eat as an when and not follow a regimented schedule. Onto the room. My room was clean, spacious, comfortable with a sea view terrace, twin beds, very effective air conditioning and a mini bar restocked daily if required. The items in the mini bar reasonably priced and room service is available if required. The beds are comfortable but the pillows are amongst the worst I have ever encountered ! The hotel is in a stunning location and you can use the facilities at the sister hotel next door. There is an outdoor pool at each, 1 indoor pool, a gym, yoga sessions and a lido style pool that I believe is sea water. There are plenty of sun beds and shaded areas. All public areas within the hotel are spotless and hand sanitiser is readily available. The small promenade is a few mins walk away and there are a couple of cafes, restaurants and a spar shop literally 2 mins away. If you want to see the island a hire car is an absolute must in my opinion although there is a bus stop close to the hotel. I was happy just chilling poolside with a book most of the time. The island is quite hilly with very steep streets so will will need a good pair of flat shoes if you do plan on walking anywhere. For those with limited mobility this is not the place for you. I personally had a fantastic week and would happily return when things are back to normal.
