Terrible stay, The staff not helpful at all
On arriving things looked OK, then we found that the outside light didn't work, when we used the shower the water tray filled up and took a long time to drain away, alot of items missing for a self catering apartment, no instructions for using the induction cooker rings, it took us a while to figure out, a cheap frying pan anything we cooked would stick, no oven, then I pulled off the cushion on the sofa and pulled out a t shirt, 2 pairs of socks dirty, a lazer pen, crisps, tissues, an lots of fluff, I had to put a towel down to sit on the sofa because it was so dirty, the full length curtains at the patio doors smelled really bad, we reported the TV going off on a Saturday, and it didn't come back on till the following Thursday, Then we where told to go the day before leaving to reception and ask to keep the room on up until 7pm the next day, which would cost us 30 euros, when I went to ask about it, I was told not possible, we had to leave the room by midday and we where not getting picked up until 6.60pm, overall experience was bloody joke, NEVER GOING BACK
Great stay apart from a few issues
Loved staying here great location to the yumbo night life . My only complaint was because my son was autistic he stressed the day before to the max as I was trying to arrange 6hrs extra to stay in room and for a whole day I was asked to keep going back to reception to see if we could stay every 2 to 3 hrs very unsettling then had to pay 30 euros for that .safe wasn't free and other places iv stayed iv paid for safe but recieved a large amount back not there .No air conditioning it was a killer hardly slept each night .so hot and my son slept in living area with big fan far too hot not to have air con .iv been to many hotels on this island they've all had air con not here .finally the spa area needs a deep clean
Enjoyable Stay at El Palmar
We came out for 10 nights early August with our Daughter, booked two rooms, one was a junior suite, both suites were spotless and very spacious. There are plenty of sunbeds by the pool, it's 500 metres from a fantastic beach, there is a supermarket 500m in the opposite direction, so can't fully understand some of the other reviews regarding the location. The roof terrace is fantastic and the views across Maspalomas are great. The two points I would mention, that may put certain people off are: 1.) Air con in the rooms - never really affected us, we had a fan in the bedroom which was more than adequate. 2.) The office Staff (who are great) finish at 23:00. If your flight is late getting in, and you get there after 23:00, you need to call the number at reception, a security guard will be there within 10 mins to give you your room key. No issue from my perspective, you pop down to reception in the morning, check in, get access to Wi-Fi - which again, is spot on and you are good to go. We got back to the UK, spend three days at home, the wife and I decided to go back out to Gran Canaria and booked El Palmar again for 5 nights...so, for me, that says it all. Getting a late check out on both occasions was a bonus. A quick mention to the cleaners who are very polite and do a great job.
No air conditioning
The hotel is very clean, breakfast is poor but the biggest let down of this 4 star stay is no air con in sub 40 degree temperatures. Sleeping impossible 😴 to add insult to injury all staff reside in a fully air conditioned office
