Excellent stay again
We have stayed at Niriides for the last two years with terrific owners Georgio, Lizetta and family and were a little apprehensive this year staying at Niriides with new owners. We didn't need to have been. The hotel has been significally landscapped with lots of plants, water features, new bar and sunlounging areas, all of which in good taste. The staff were excellent , friendly and very responsive and always wanting to please. Although there were few guests ( due to the coronavirus which they handled extremely well) the ambiance was again lovely with the family always being present sharing the evenings. The menu was limited ,again due to the virus, but on request in the mornings the chef would cook meals of your choice which were excellent. The hotel is in a perfect location overlooking the sea and terrific for an early morning swim (a minutes walk). All in all a wonderful stay again and well done and thankyou to Niriides and its new staff. We highly recommend Niriides and we will be back next year.
Lovely stay
This was our third time of staying at Niriides Hotel, on Symi, and we had discovered ( after booking) that the hotel was under new management. We felt a little unsettled by this, as had great experiences of it as a small family run hotel. However, the family that have taken it over have introduced many new features ( eg- water feature ) as well as developing many new seating / lounging areas in areas previously undeveloped. Due to Covid-19, there were restrictions in place, and breakfast whilst plentiful, was served to us rather than being the usual buffet. However, the choices were good and very enjoyable. The hotel seems to have had a lick of paint and we understand that there is to be further renovation of the actual rooms. We occupied room 2, overlooking the sea below, and it was spotlessly clean and perfect for us. All in all, we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay and the staff did all they could to make us feel welcome. After all their hard work in renovating the hotel, it was sad that they had so many cancellations due to the virus. This hotel is a short walk away from a lovely small pebbly beach with sun loungers, and safe swimming, with a family run taverna behind. It is also a stop for the sea taxi which goes to Symi harbour and beyond. I would highly recommend it.
Beautiful location, great hospitality
We spent an idyllic few days in September here with our 2 year old (who keeps asking when we're going back.....) Giorgos is an incredible host and went out of his way to look after us.. The apartment is a short walk from a pretty, small beach which was great for swimming for a toddler. We walked along to Yialos most afternoons and it is a stunning walk high up above the sea - about 25 min. Giorgos was happy to pick us up in the early evening and this was super helpful. Meals at the hotel were fantastic and we ended up eating there a lot more than I would have imagined as it was such a pleasure. We'd love to go back and explore the island more fully and would stay there again..
Peace and Quiet in Symi
When almost all Tripadvisor reviews and everyone we spoke to told just how much we would love staying at Niirides, sky high expectations were always going to be hard to meet. The family who own the hotel are indeed lovely people, the studio we had was large and clean, our bedroom was comfortable and with amazing views, and the breakfasts were fine. But even so, we were at first a bit underwhelmed, Nimborio is a quiet spot and further from Yialos that we had fully realised. Therefore some information in the room about transport and walking options would have been very helpful for first time visitors. By day 2 we had worked out the quickest way to walk to the port and also learnt about the taxi boats, and that helped. We still missed having no other restaurants in walking distance, but have to agree that Yiorgo's cooking is better than many restaurants and we had some memorable meals in the hotel, especially Symi Lamb and local fish. So the informality and friendliness of the hotel won us over and we began to understand why people return there year after year.
Beautiful and picturesque
Clean, great location. Local water taxi to take you to center port. If possible, hire a scooter to fully explore and get lost amongst the beauty of the island of Symi. The famous monastery on the other side of the island is breathtaking. Highly reccomend. Yamas!
