Relais and Chateau?

Stayed for a week in September. Good points: wine and turkish delight in the room was a lovely surprise. Rooms were kept beautifully clean - thx hotel cleaning ladies. Breakfast was good but a little unvaried. Pool area and loungers were good however see comment in not so good. Had a meal in Baos on our last night which was fantastic, the crayfish dish was our favourite. A lovely gift as well at the end of the meal which was a real surprise. The not so good points: stayed in room 304 told how marvellous it was on check in however, light in wardrobe didn't switch off and no door so not a great first night. Eventually managed to get this sorted. Room 304 is above the bar area which has DJ music until early hours (2am). Also September is very windy so no way you could use the very open on all side balcony. Would wake up to cushions blown all over the balcony and even windy enough to lift the hot tub lid and bang the shutters. Imagine this is room would be marvellous during the less windy months. Having come from a hotel that provided free water every day and coffee pods, here you have to pay for everything - $2 per coffee pod and no instructions how to use. Never had this experience in any other Relais and Chateau we have stayed in. DJ playing repetitive beat music all day long doesn't make for a relaxing experience. The pool at Kyma next door was a much nicer experience. Check out was 11am although previously had been 12 but crossed out and handwritten over on the key card holder. Our transfer to the airport on the last day wasn't until 7pm so asked on day of check in could we do a late checkout. Told to check the day before we left. We checked the day before we left only to be told still couldn't tell us and ask again in the morning. Went to reception again to ask in the morning and told no, but there were private areas at Kyma where we could shower and change. Asked were these where the toilet facilities were and told no, asked if they could show us but again told no. Luckily we decided not to risk as didn't have much faith so showered before we left the room and spent the day in the shade sitting at Kyma as no indoor comfy seating at Korali. When we went back later to ask to use the facilities were basically taken by buggy and dropped back at Kyma and then had to go and ask at reception where facilities were and taken to the toilet area by the pool! Definitely not private and also meant had to take turns to get ready as we couldn't use the same room. Sink in ladies was also full of dirty water and both floors were wet due to people from the pool coming in and out plus doors wide open to the public walking by. Picked this hotel due to being Relais and Chateau and the great restaurant but had we known how close Kyma was would have stayed there instead and just gone to Baos for a meal. Baos is the truly good thing about Korali.

Overall amazing!!!!

Wow! We have just returned from a week in Mykonos our first time and we are so so glad we chose to stay at Myconian Korali. I truly believe it made our stay exceptional. From the very first moment we arrived at the hotel to the second we left the staff could not do enough for us. When we arrived (by complimentary transfer) we sat in reception and were given a map of the island and the lovely lady gave us some recommendations and talked us through the hotel. The breakfast was great fresh fruit to eggs bacon cereal everything you would want. They also offered complimentary champagne which was great. The pool area was small and intimate and never over crowded the music is great never too loud just right. Our room was overlooking the town which was a bonus. It was a great size, modern and spotless. All the staff are amazing and so helpful I believe the guy down at the bar Dimitri was his name. So friendly and nothing was ever too much (again with all the staff) I don’t remember all the names. I would visit this hotel again if I was to visit Mykonos. Thank you to everyone who made the trip so special

Nice Accommodation in Mykonos

Prior to my trip to Mykonos, I had done quite a bit of research as to which part of town to stay in, and where exactly to stay. Following a bit of research, I landed on Myconian Korali, as I wanted to be slightly removed rom the crowds; yet have the accessibility to the town center in the evenings. I will start by saying, it is very nice the hotel offers complimentary pick-up/drop-off to/from the airport/ferry. That said, I did find my arrival to be quite choppy and unprofessional. Upon arrival, the shuttle driver insisted on putting our bags on the side of the driveway, where they would be accompanied by hotel staff; however, many guests on the shuttle preferred to stay with their luggage, the staff were giving quite a push back on this. The reception staff insisted we go to the “lounge area” because the lobby was “too busy” and we “would not hear her” , they asked for our passports and credit cards and walked off to the lobby without any explanation. To this day, I have yet to receive explanation as to what was done with my credit card. It was a really disappointing way to begin our stay. I checked in the lobby, and it was not that busy, plus, what do I need to hear anyway? You don’t walk off with somebody’s personal belongings such as passport and credit card, you just do not do it. As for the room, it was pretty nice, I would not exactly call it 5-star caliber; however, it did have most of the essentially. Some of the patio furniture was damaged and warn down. The layout of the hotel could be confusing at times, and truthfully, I’m not sure why it’s not all combined into one resort. The breakfast buffet was very good, the pastries and fruit incredibly fresh, and the service attentive. I will mention, a hotel, especially one as expansive as this one, should offer a complimentary shuttle to and from town. Transportation to town, only a 5 minute drive away, is 25 Euros, and the walk is alongside a crowded highway. I would definitely not do it at night. If I could do it over again, I would stay closer to the center of town and the bus stations. The car services will cost you almost as much as your activities. I would like to thank Vana, a manager at the resort, for assisting us with an issue on our final day/night at the resort. Vana was incredibly cordial, helpful, and professional in assisting us in transferring to a new room. We had been dealing with some noise issues in the previous nights (such is Mykonos) and Vana complimentarily upgraded us to the second largest suite at the resort. Thank you Vana! Overall, my stay at the Korali was a pleasant one; however, I would probably lean towards looking elsewhere should I return to Mykonos. The lack of a shuttle will truly burn your pockets, the hot-tubs and less premier rooms were visibly warn down, and probably did not meet 5 star quality.

Excellent staff friendly and efficient

A positive turn around After a number of issues upon checking in and on arriving into our room an email was sent to the GM to address. The GM was gracious to listen and sympathise on the points from then on our holiday truly started . Although the choice at the buffet breakfast was limited and didn’t change the servers were all excellent welcoming and efficient. The pools were all clean and sunbeds were truly comfortable. The hotel command s a hill side position with amazing views snd sunsets moments . A steep hill with no foot path to town takes approx 12 minutes- not for the faint hearted . Reception staff were all friendly and a daily smile greeted you.

Great hotel in an awesome location

A wonderful hotel with breathtaking views. Located a 10 minute walk from town. You feel the luxury straight away from when you’re picked up right to check in. The staff are lovely, showing the absolute best of Greek hospitality. Breakfast was high quality food, but mostly cold buffet items (cereal, cakes, breads, fruit, Greek cakes). There were fried eggs, rice, vegetables and bacon. I would have liked some porridge and warm sweet breads. The breakfast restaurant is gorgeous with views to the ocean. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bed is very comfortable and the balcony overlooks the sea with views of the sunset. This is a very expensive restaurant and I would say the minimum spend per person for dinner would be around €80. There are taster menus that are around €150. The bars are well-stocked with cocktails, beers and champagnes. The gym is 2 x-trainers, pulley machines, weights and 3 treadmills. All very well maintained. The only couple of things I would change are that the road from the main road is un-paved and narrow. There’s no speed limit and at night 4x4s, taxis and motorbikes speed around the bend. This made coming into the hotel (especially at night) feel unsafe. Bizarrely, the rooms have coffee pods which are charged at €2 per capsule. I have not seen coffee being charged at a 5* hotel before. Also the amenity room for showering after check-out was flooding and there were no towels.
