Portugal’s hidden gem - exquisite!

An exceptional boutique hotel that has considered every detail. The food was exquisite and the interior design a feast for the eyes. A boutique hotel so facilites are smaller but the beach club again is wonderful, the food delicious and the ambience refreshing for the soul.

A joy.

Perfect combination of a grand old hotel and a luxurious modern annex at the beach. We enjoyed thoroughly the dinner overlooking the canal. The cocktails were marvellous and the person making it exemplary. The staff made you feel part of a family A joy to stay there.

Wonderful experience

Grand Hotel is a special place that’s been restored to pay tribute to its original design and décor. It’s like stepping back into time but with all the modern-day amenities one could want or need. February is quiet in Algarve which was perfect for us. We used the hotel’s bikes to head to a nearby beach. We walked to the serene and beautiful beach club (a shuttle is also provided). We partook in the 7-course tasting menu and were introduced to fish we’d never tried! Everything had been recently caught and was thoughtfully prepared. The hotel provides a nice variety of items on the breakfast menu which can be eaten in the dining room or in one’s quarters. The food was delicious! Grand Hotel was the perfect way to begin our holiday and we look forward to our return!

Luxury Gem

Grand House Algarve is a darling, luxury gem in the quaint village of Vila Real Santo Antonio. Enjoy vistas of Spain across the inlet and walk the charming, Portuguese streets around the hotel. The staff is amazing, the food is some of the best I've had worldwide and the restored "grand dame" of a hotel is a magical getaway.

What a magnificent stay!

We stayed at the Grand House, on the recommendation of a friend who now lives in a town nearby. When we left our stay with him, we went down the coast to Vila Real Santo Antonio, a wonderful riverfront resort town on the Guadiana River across from Spain. This is a magnificent historic hotel that has been very thoughtfully restored. Everything about our stay was excellent. In addition to a beautiful hotel of about 30 rooms, our stylish and comfortable room, the salon for meals, the small but intriguing bar and the nearby beach club were only outmatched by the staff. We enjoyed our made to order breakfast with a view of the marina with Sofia's assistance, along with Innish for dinner and Joachim as the master bartender. Dolsa, Adrianna and Lucianna were always ready to help out at reception. Francisco, Enrique and Joao wowed us at the beach club with their service, food and drinks. Gabriel and Ricardo were our chauffeurs to the Beach Club and train station. The Beach Club is delightful, small but with a nice pool, deck chairs, small beach next door and a great restaurant. It is a nice walk of about a mile or the hotel staff will drive you to and from. We also took the ferry across the river to Ayamonte, Spain for a lovely lunch on the patio of LPA one afternoon. This is not an inexpensive hotel, where the prices in Portugal tend to be very affordable. That said, we found our stay to be worth very Euro and we look forward to our next visit. In addition to the hotel and beach club dining there are a lot of other choices through out town.
