The best seafood experience in Saigon!
I won a dinner voucher from Le Meridien Saigon last year. As my wife's birthday was approaching, we planned to dine at The Latest Recipe, their signature seafood restaurant. We live in Saigon and have been to plenty of seafood joints, big and small. But never to the one at Le Meridien. We had heard our expat friends here raving about the gastronomic delight at The Latest Recipe. The lead-up to the dinner was handled excellently by Ivy (the PA to the GM Mr Justin Malcolm), who then passed us on to Katy (the F&B manager). When we arrived for the dinner, we found that the team had thoughtfully earmarked a table near the window facing the Saigon River. A bottle of bubbly was opened, compliments of the GM (thank you!). The staff were super attentive and they were quite fluent in English! We did a recce around the restaurant's 'downtown' area: the seafood. The manager explained that each variety could be cooked in a variety of ways and served at our table...all we had to do was select what we wanted! The focus was almost entirely on the high-quality lobsters, the mussels, the tiger prawns...and oh I forgot...the crabs (my wife is big into crabs, Im a mute spectator when she digs into the Singapore chilli crab). The bubbly kept us good company as we indulged in the seafood (we hardly ate anything else!). Came the time for dessert, and we knew we had little space for more food, perhaps one item, but hopefully, it'll be a perfect ending! And we did get what we wanted! the cheesecake was special, just that tad sweet to enjoy, along with a coffee. Overall, it was an enjoyable evening - replete with food, wine, and great service - that we cherished, and will certainly be back for second helpings!
Still the best hotel on Saigon
I’ve been going to this hotel for almost 5 years, and I’ve always enjoyed it. Unfortunately due to Covid the hotel cannot be running up to its full capacity and potential. No hotel can! But I recently visited it again, and it’s just like coming home. The staff pay attention to detail and to my well-being as a guest. What was nice is that they opened the breakfast buffet again, it was a good Meridien breakfast. I think the front office manager, Mr. Andy, takes extremely good care of this property. He hears and see everything, pays attention to detail, all for the guests’ best interest. Hard to come by these kind of people! Looking forward to my next stay!
Great Christmas at LM Saigon
Thanks again to the LM staff that made this Christmas a special one for me and all of those with us. The staff helped me hunt down a Christmas tree to set up in our room. As provided by Em Andy and Em Thao - I was lucky to get a large room so that we had room to set up tree and have some friends come by later for Christmas gift opening. We stayed for five nights and were able to enjoy several of the hotel offerings - including the hottest sauna in town (always enjoy and surely think I can't stand in another minute. . .but still do); a great gym staff and always clean equipment; beautiful shaded lap pool; cocktail hour at Latitude 10 and of course. . . Christmas Brunch and Sunday Brunch at Latest Recipe. Hats off to Simone - as always. And, special thanks to Em Quang and Em Thao at concierge desk who helped pack up the presents and Christmas tree to ship back to Ha Noi (sad to have the vacation end).
Stay 2 nights for celebrate Christmas with friends. It's really nice to received a warm and delicious welcome gift from the hotel! Thank you Andy and Ms. Thao who always arrange a nice room for me. And Annie, Ms. Tram, Ms. Thao(Concierge), Mr. Tuan and all the concierge members who always assisted me a lot during the check-in and check-out, and Mr. Quang who speaks Chinese perfectly helped me figured out all my questions about the promotion package. And special thanks to Mr. Ninh saved me form locking outside the room in the mid-night. Also, me and my friends both enjoyed our meals from the in-room dining, and also the best Sunday Brunch in town! Thank you Simone for all these creative and absolutely delicious dishes! Definitely will come back again and again!
We came and stayed for New Year Eve, dissatisfied is not enough. Check below for reasons: - Carpark: free, but terrible smell, felt like sh**. - Afternoon tea: Latitude 10: Got a pour over with dark roasted bean, preferred light taste. Cold rolls: 25’ after ordered. Chocolate Lava: can’t be worsened, thick cover, so little sauce for a lava, vanilla ice-cream (no). - Dinner at Latest Receipt: Demoted from highest package to lower, and had to wait for 10’ to have reconfirm as experienced at check-in counter. - Countdown party: not a 5* service, one drink, next table smoke weeds and no one say anything. One naked guy jumped to a pool, and all things that security just asked the guy came out and let he walked around with an underwear. - Breakfast at Latest Receipt: luckily just waited for 10’ for a dirty table, another 15’ for a promise would come back to clean a table. No napkin, no new knife and folks, used placemat. Asked for desired coffee, but it never show up. - Check-out: if pay used service in full can pay at counter (Marriott Elite Counter) , pay with discount by Marriott Member Cards go back to Latitude 10 Lounge & Bar. Asked for a free valet ticket, had to ask again to get it on hand. Almost forgot give back credit card for customer. A few mistakes can be accepted, but every where in a 5* hotel? Because your guests not deserved it or you named too high?
