A wonderful holiday with kids thanks to excellent staff!
This was our second time staying at Phu Hai Resort, the first time was in 2019. I’m happy to say our experience was equally fantastic the second time! The hotel is gorgeous, with a great big pool, large, airy restaurant with ocean and pool views, extensive tropical gardens, water features, a spa, play room for small children, some outdoor undercover pool tables, a small shop (currently only open on weekends) etc. Although the hotel looks large in the photos, it feels spaced out and calm, even when it’s busy. The clean, white sand beach comes right up to the base of the resort, and has plenty of umbrellas and deck chairs so you can sit and enjoy the view after a swim. Rooms are gorgeous, we stayed in side by side villas and were able to pay an extra fee to accommodate our family of 3 children and 2 adults in the Garden View Villa 4+ while my mum stayed in a 2 person villa beside ours. Villas have great air-conditioning, the bathrooms are amazing with an outdoor shower in a secluded lush garden, and 4+ villa also has an indoor shower upstairs. The Tv’s are old, don’t expect to be able to stream or airplay things. But you won’t have time anyway as there is so much to do! The buffet breakfast had a great selection, was spread out with helpful staff and chef’s cooking eggs fresh to order. Some days it was very busy but seemed to work well despite this, other days when quiet there was just as good food options on offer, which was great. Staff were excellent and always noticed if something ran out, and topped it up very quickly. Afternoon tea was small but a lovely touch as well. The dining area is gorgeous and runs over multiple tiers so you feel more spaced out when it’s busy. We took a cooking class at the resort which was also really great, very informative and fun to do with just our family. The small group size made it extra special and the chef was lovely. The resort is a little out of town, expect to pay 80-150VND each way to get to most Mui Ne cafes + shops. We highly recommend local taxi driver Nhan (Leaf Tours), he drove us around for 2 weeks in his 7 seater meter Taxi, making our holiday so easy (a safe and reliable driver can be hard to find in Vietnam). Nhan was friendly and knowledgeable with excellent English. We texted him for pickups - he was always on time and quick to reply. He also does tours to Ho Chi Minh, Red sand dunes etc. The only small negative is the wifi was probably as slow and painful as they get in Vietnam, with constant dropouts, security warnings, requiring a password again then rejecting it a few times before accepting it and poor wifi reception in the villas. This is not super uncommon in Vietnam but in a hotel of this class might be something to work on. Personally I also found the beds pretty hard, that’s completely a personal thing and I’ve had much worse, but it’s my only other suggestion for improvement, perhaps even offering guests the option of an additional padded topper on check in may be a solution. It’s worth noting that Mui Ne area itself has become a weekend party destination for locals from HCMC, as the new road has reduced the drive time to only 2.5hrs, last time we visited the town was lovely and quiet but now all the town and resorts have loud music on Friday and Saturday nights and it can be difficult to find somewhere to eat in town without booking on those nights. No biggie, but worth knowing. I will probably book to stay mid week next time, and leave before the weekend, since we have kids. The music at Phu Hai stopped around 10-10.30pm. All staff were so friendly and helpful, we were easily able to sort out any little questions etc. We had no real problems, we even broke a room key by accident and found the replacement fast and reasonably priced via reception. The massage at the spa was fantastic, and it was a lovely touch that we got a few for free. We will stay again for sure!
Great resort for relaxing days
Great resort for relaxing days! Family of 4, kids 9 and 12 enjoyed 1 week here before christmas. Not many guests here. Relaxing, cool, comfy after one week exploring the Mekongdelta and HCMC. The 2 floor villa is superb, spacious. Pool nice, clean and the beach is fantastic! However, on some windy/wavy days u r not allowed to go out in the ocean. Breakfast buffet is great, lots of fruits, local dishes and the usual international stuff. Lunch/dinner meny and prices are ok, similar to other restaurants here. My wife says the spa is really great, we also have verified the gym, tennis courts and table tennis - actually quality ping pong raquets here 😊 Staff is friendly, smiling, most of them understand basic english. Resort is ca 3 km from the nearest town, but transport/taxi does not cost much and is easy to get. Not many shops or restaurants close to the hotel - a good coffebar and local restaurant over the street, both to be recommended. Improvements: * Learn how to mix drinks * Daily program of activities Could we come back? Yes!
Fantastic place
The property is very large, which provides the guests with a lot of space and quietness. The pool is fantastic, large and with a waterfall. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Beach is white and clean, and much larger than near the Mui Ne centre. Staff is fantastic.
