Hotel with great location but lack of in-room design
The hotel itself has an excellent location just by the beach and with rooms and restaurant overlooking the sea and pretty much the whole Magaluf (if you have that kind of room). Nice pool area and usually a nice pool bar that is open. Staff are great. We stayed in a Junior Suite with amazing view. However, i don´t know what the person who designed these rooms was thinking. First of all you have a TV on a fixed stand, blocking the breathtaking view. How can you not see that when you design a room. and who watches tv in a place like this anyway. Second there is this completely unnecessary bathtub next to the bed, taking up so much space, making everything else just look misplaced because there is no space to put furniture so it looks reasonable good. And the third thing is the see-through shower, placed in no form of privacy. Not everyone enjoys that kind of non privacy when showering, even if you are a couple. At least the glass could have been frosted or something. The toilet should have been placed there, and the shower were the toilet is located. It would make a lot more sense. Due to the covid-19 situation and Melias "Stay Safe" concept. The rooms are completely wiped out from all essential things, (i am actually surprised the bed was still there and that there were towels) and you will need to call or order amenities through the app. This actually do not make sense. Instead of having the amenities disinfected inside the rooms already, you need to have someone bring it to you, several times and sometimes with a long wait. This just make unnecessary contact between guests and staff. And to be honest, its kind of a mood-killer when you enter a room that has nothing that makes it "luxurious" and just feels cold. At reception you are given a lot of verbal information, so make sure you have a good memory. Because you wont get any written information since they are not allowed to print anything due to the covid-19 measures, and as mentioned before, there is nothing inside the rooms either. In The Level lounge there is also the same issue with having staff doing things for you. Would it really be such a big risk for me spreading the virus if i got my own bottled drink?. No. And why not individual wrap the items instead of having to wait and point for the staff on what i want. Overall it was a great stay. But some measures against covid-19 are contra productive and it somewhat feels like they were implemented without thought. We might come back. But that will be after the excessive measures has been lifted and it´s running like normal again.
What an Upgrade
This was the second change of hotel as the others were closed due to COVID. Still a 4star but more upmarket. Checked in and went to lunch. All meals can be eaten outside on a large terrace overlooking the ocean, views breathtaking. Room lovely with sea view also, clean and spacious with a massive queen size bed and fluffy pillows. Had 2 showers and a bath. Tv but only English news channel. Pool areas lovely with complementary towels. 20 metres to the beach where we used the hotel’s double beds for free. Location great but due to COVID and end of season the strip and most bars and eateries were shut. Still a lovely relaxing holiday, weather great. Only complaint was food was often cold and not a lot of choice. Staff helpful but just a singer on each night not much else. We were all inclusive thankfully as drinks are very expensive but good brands. We felt we had an upgrade so got a bargain, thankyou for a wonderful holiday and yes we would stay here again.
We loved this hotel , the food were fantastic we never got bored of the options , the cleaner came in the room everyday charged the bedding fresh towels everyday , it were a pleasure to come back to and even the shapes she made out of towels . The reception staff were helpful and pleasant at all times the restaurant staff did a amazing job keeping the tables clean and drinks arriving , we got a fantastic room with a lovely view of the bay and the strip , there is a hotel spa and gym as well as outdoor pools but we never used these facilities so I can’t comment we tend to stick to the beach which is only a grasp away from the hotel perimeter. The staff are quite strict on the mask wearing whilst your walking around , the only reason I give 4 stars is there is very few parking options outside the hotel for those who hire a car, overall i would book with Melia again I would recommend to anyone for a pleasant stay . Thank you media hotels you’ve been a blast ... I will also add we were originally booked into the sister hotel next door but with the COVID they seem to forget to inform us when we got there it were all closed off so we made our way to Calvià beach they took our paperwork and had it all sorted within half hour
