Basic but decent
Back from a 5 night stay at plaza azul. As i always look here for guidance i always like to leave an honest review. Location- good. Close enough to strip that its a 5/10 minute walk but far enough away that you dont have the noise. Only book this though if you dont mind walking up and down that hill tho. Also several supermarkets just across road. Reception/staff - staff friendly. Didnt realy need them for anything bar booking exurcions which they helped with no bother. There is a bar but i didnt see it open once. Would be good if they done a wee hapoy hour. Pool- looked lovely. Never ventured in. The loungers were a joke tho. Given a leaflet on arrival telling u not to put towels down and leave them when unnocupied . Folk didnt care. All loungers were mostly taken by 8am even tho pool didnt open till 9.30. I even seen folk down before 7am putting towels down. Not nearly enough loungers tho for amount of apartments. Apartment- basic but clean and tidy. Did read on here to try get an A apartment as these get the sun most. Allocted A17 which was ideal. Pool view from front and sunset view at back. Got the sun on veranda from 8-2 then at the back the rest of the day. Only downside was no aircon and it did get realy hot at night specialy with the mattress protectors. Cleaned every 2nd day. All in all a pleasant stay but i would definately try get an higher apartment due to the lounger situation. Also a €10 deposit for tv which is no issue as you get it back. Has basic british channels and netflix/prime.
Do not believe the good reviews.
These apartments are dirty and require a total make over. We went 21 February 2023 and we requested a transfer to another Hotel because of the state of both apartments. The lava rock black skirtings were full of ground in dirt, bottom of doors were dirty with peeling paint, plate rack rusty, paint on curtain overall poorly maintained.
Great location for the week
Great location for the week, with a supermarket just a 5 minutes walk away with all the essentials you need. Apartments was clean and comfy however, could do with a little TLC. Staff was amazing, and would do anything for you. Pool was great too however, sun loungers were uncomfortable.
4 stars based on what was on offer a cheap basic short break.
Good cheap apartments, if you are looking for 5 star APTS these are not for you,if you want a basic cheap apt for a quick week or long weekend then Plaza Azul will suffice. Very basic dated APTS but clean and friendly. A lovely pool but sunbeds somewhat uncomfortable also a pool bar . Probably not suited for the frail as apt floors and balconies and around pool get really slippy when wet so take care. Overall we came not expecting that much but had the weather and a good 6 nights away.
Just great
Stayed at the Plaza Azul, many times over the years, but not since 2015 when parents began to come with us to Lanzarote so we needed a hotel. We decided to go for a three night break this January and was just as we remembered, there are some great points about the Plaza Azul and then a few points you may find a little basic. The reception staff especially Betty were amazing, very attentive and polite, in fact all of the staff from the cleaners to the pool guy were all so polite. The great things about this place are: rooms very clean, contains a microwave, toaster, most kitchen equipment you need, TV with wifi access, the TV is also connected to the wifi, so things like you tube etc already installed, the pool is perfect with lots of seating, great pool bar area with a 2.5 euro beer offer. The slightly negative side, rooms are basic, but comfortable, beds are much better than they were before, very comfy, bathroom great size and great shower. There is no air con at the Plaza Azul, so gets a little warm at night, the safe is there but you need to pay 2.5 euro's a day for the use of this, so if your there for two weeks, can be an extra cost, you also need to pay ten euro's for the TV remote but you get this back when you leave. All in all a great place to stay despite the little niggles, its in a good location but you do have a ten minute walk up a steep road, the supermarket across the road is expensive, the one just down the road is bigger and cheaper. You get what you pay for, its a little outdated, but comfy, great location, great staff and very clean, looking forward to going back for 10 nights in April.
