I found Caju Le Petit Hotel while looking for a place to stay in Funchal at the start and end of my hiking trip. What a wonderful hotel! Even before I arrived, the reception staff was helpful in keeping me abreast of what the COVID protocol was in Lisbon, as well as on Madeira. Guieramo and Laura were especially helpful. The bed linens were to die for, as was the shower and amenities. Great reading lamps on either side of the bed. Wonderful stay. Thank you. The hotel deserves all 4 stars My only complaint was that the Wi-fi was NOT secure. In this day and age, that is simply not acceptable, as any hotel with 3 or more stars should provide 100% secure Wi-fi. It's not that expensive. The hotel arranged for me to have a massage at their sister hotel, The Vine. It was the BEST! Had I known in advance that hotel guests received a 20% discount, I would have booked more services. (I was not informed of the discount in advance.)
Amazing little hotel
Stayed 6 nights at this charming hotel. Everything was brilliant. All of the reception staff were friendly, helpful & nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant staff were also so welcoming, the food was really fresh & healthy & loved that it was a la carte, rather than a buffet. The hotel is very centrally situated & you can easily walk to all of the sights & are spoilt for choice of eateries on the doorstep. The room was spotless & surprisingly quiet considering it faced the street. A great hotel if you enjoy small boutique type places, we will be back!!!!
Stayed here for a week and absolutely loved it. The rooms were modern, comfortable and clean. The location was perfect for us, as we aren’t looking for a big resort type of hotel. We had a room (201) with a balcony on the busier street, which was perfect for people watching, but the noise level was fine at night for sleeping. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. The restaurant Prima Caju was also excellent. We love having free breakfast daily while on vacation. They had enough options to choose from for breakfast and even a few vegan selections. We did have a lunch here on our first day as we had an early arrival and our room wasn’t ready. It was nice to have such healthy options available throughout our vacation. I do wish they were open for dinner, as that would have been convenient on some of our evenings after tours, etc I was initially skeptical about booking this hotel because there weren’t very many reviews, but don’t let that stop you from staying at this hotel. It was nearly perfect. The only small issue we encountered was upon our check out there was nobody at the front desk (granted at 3:20am as we had an extremely early flight), which I had inquired about earlier in the day and was assured someone would be there to check us out. Luckily our driver called the front desk about 5 minutes after we came down, which brought someone out from the back of the building. So it all worked out just fine in the end.
A fully booked lunchtime indicates the popularity of this eatery. Quirky decor, brilliant friendly service and superb food. Freshly prepared the healthy food and drinks will wow you, try all the different juices, watch them preparing them. Very reasonably priced, sadly not open in the evening. A triumph.
