My partner and I stayed in June 2019, but I am only now getting around to leaving a review. It shows the hotel was good - I am still thinking about it nearly 2 years later! This hotel is in a stunning location, with amazing views, but you will need a car, and will need to be a confident driver, as it is up a steep and rocky hill. One thing I can say about this hotel, is that it felt so luxurious. Breakfast had a wide variety of food considering it was continental (there were still eggs and pancakes though), and the staff were so lovely! There were towels in your room and towels on poolside to use, free of charge. The sunbeds were cushioned (most comfortable holiday sunbeds I have ever laid on), and the pool was large. There were waiters around the pool, and your drinks were delivered to your sunbed. They were a bit pricey, but happy hour was when we ordered most. The room we were in was large and spacious, and had a view looking over the pool and sea. We had dinner at the hotel on our last night. The poolside converted into a terraced restaurant, with views over the sea. I am a vegetarian and had a delicious 3-course dinner, my partner loved his meat options too. We sat with our dinner and wine, while watching the sunset. Magical. Lunch-time options were also lovely, but a little pricey, so we drove to a supermarket and got some bread and sandwich fillers for the week. The rooms come with fridges, so it all stayed fresh. We ate our lunch on our balcony everyday, as we felt secluded, but still had a view of the pool/sea. Very romantic hotel, with a luxury feel, that doesn't break the bank. Also, not related to the hotel, but if you are in Skiathos, you will need a car to get around. The best beaches are not the tourist ones. Please take a visit to the Skiathos Dog Shelter and walk one of the dogs there to help out if you are a dog lover, and you MUST go to the Windmill restaurant in the main town. You will need to be fit if you are going to the Windmill though, as there were a LOT of steps up to get there. However, the food and view were AMAZING, so it was worth it. Do not go on a Mamma Mia boat tour from the main town...that was the only awful part of our whole holiday!
Amazing boutique hotel beautiful sea view from hillside location, spotless clean.hotel ,friendly helpfull staff, long steep walk from Main road, hotel minibus service free into town or to beach bottom of the mountain road, highly RECOMMEND for able body fit people because of hillside location, we loved the walk even though the walk up is very steep .
What a wonderful stay!
My parents, husband and 8 month old baby and I stayed at Kivo for 10 nights in June and had the best time. The views speak for themselves and the food is out of this world, probably the best we had on the island. We stayed on a half board basis, the breakfast buffet was delicious, fresh breads every day with a big variety of savoury and sweet options. The dinner menu for half board guests was huge and I there wasn’t one dish on there I didn’t love! The best part of Kivo for my family was Eleftheria! My son has a cows milk allergy, so before our stay I emailed to ask if there were food options for him and alternative milks at breakfast and every day she came out with different mills and all the things he could eat at breakfast, I also asked if there was a shop close by that sold Evian water for his formula milk and when we arrived Eleftheria had fully stocked our bedroom with more than enough large bottles of Evian for the week which I didn’t ask for. From the moment we checked in until the minute we left she could not have done more for us, constantly checking if we had what we needed for the baby, running around to make us comfortable, giving us knowledge about the island and Greece in general. Most of all she was a friendly face who made us feel welcome every single day, we were really sad to say goodbye at the end of our trip - she is an absolute credit to the hotel and does not take a single break! There was a wedding going on one of the days so that meant a lot of the hotel was shut off which would usually be very annoying as it’s a small place, but the owner of the hotel made alternative arrangements for us so we didn’t feel we were missing out on a whole day of our holiday. I also have to mention the lovely driver who takes you to and from the airport and Skiathos town. He was so kind, always making a fuss of the baby and taking us wherever we needed to go without a moan - he is also a credit to the hotel as well as all the waiting and bar staff. All in all I couldn’t fault this hotel. Thank you so much Kivo, we will definitely come back!
A little dissapointed
The staff at the hotel were lovely, very polite, friendly, especially the hotel driver, nothing was too much trouble. As in another review, a true gentleman. The pool area was beautiful with outstanding views over the bay. We did not eat in the restaurant as it was overpriced, speaking with other guests at the time of our stay, they were of the same opinion, we chose the hotel next door for a meal one evening which was excellent. Our room was a bit tired, with basic furniture, the bathroom needed updating, and had an unpleasant smell of drains. if we left it too late to shower there was no hot water. The hotel is situated at the top of a very steep hill, so you have to be an athlete to undertake the climb up to the hotel and down again, so you totally need to rely on the minibus, or hire a car, due to it's remoteness from Skiathos town. The grounds needed a general tidy up,standing on the poolside balcony, we noticed old discarded sun beds and mattresses, which did not give the grounds a good look.
