Godt hotel
Pretty good experience!
We spent 10 days here as a family and overall was a good experience! Positives: our room was really nice in the new building, really clean and modern with good facilities but the new building is a bit of a walk from the entrance. The staff were all amazing, friendly and helpful especially Alex the chef and the waiters (Vasilis especially!) Breakfast was very varied and delicious. Everything was clean, there was a pool table, music evenings on Monday, books etc. An amazing location, just a few minutes from the beach and easily walkable to old town, the bus station (20 mins) etc. Negatives: Evening meal was average, not a huge amount of choice and some meals were nicer than others. Would have preferred more traditional Greek hot food options although there was lots of cold cuts, cheeses, salads etc. There should have been machines/jugs for water and juice in the evening instead of expecting guests to pay for bottled water. Additionally the pool was quite small and very overlooked by the rooms and restaurant so didn't really use it. There are lots of sunbeds though and clean toilets. Another thing which was probably not the hotels fault but was very annoying was a large group of teenagers staying maybe in a school group who were very noisy in the lobby area and restaurant in the evenings. This happened on a couple of nights and wasn't very pleasant. Overall though we really enjoyed our stay in this hotel in a great town in great and thank you to all the staff!
Perfect break
We wanted a chilled break and that’s exactly what we had. Great hotel, friendly and helpful staff always with a smile. Room was spotless and extremely comfortable with lovely view across the pool to the sea. Breakfast was exceptional. Even being vegan there was a huge choice and all so fresh. Would most definitely return
Great Staff, good location.
I was lucky enough to stay at this hotel for two weeks. The staff in the restaurant and bar were really friendly and lovely. The food was good; there was a wide range of stuff for breakfast (classic English Breakfast stuff, lots of fruit, yoghurt and honey, more continental style cold meats, cheese and there were some waffles/pancakes as well). There was a machine for coffee and orange juice, but the staff would bring jugs of coffee to you as well which was better than the machine. There was also fruit juice in jugs which the hotel made themselves. In the evening, there was a good choice of salads and a range of roasted meats. There was always pans with pasta/rice/sauces and usually there would be a vegetarian dish as well – the wonderful gigantes or rice-stuffed vegetables. The same staff would tend to do breakfast and evening meal so they must put in long hours, didn’t stop them smiling though. On the occasion when I talked to the reception staff they were always very helpful and polite. They helped me out with a map of the area and the town and were kind enough to print out my Passenger Locator Form for me to make thing easy coming home. The room itself came with a very comfy bed, a balcony from where you could see the sea and got the sun first thing in the day. There was a fridge in the room as well which was great for chilling water before going out for the day. The hotel is about a fifteen minute walk to the Old Town which is very pretty, lots of cafes, bars and restaurants to choose from. There are plenty of places to eat and drink nearby as well though. The beach is only about 150 metres away, turning left at the beach takes you into Old Town, turn right and you’ve got about 8km of golden sandy beaches. You can walk further along the coast on the roads if you want and find a few other smaller beaches. All of the beach front is well paved and flat so good for walking, running or cycling. The bus station is a good twenty minute walk on the other side of Rethymno. From there though you can get a bus to Heraklion and Chania on the north coast or Preveli and Plakias on the South. The bus to Chania goes every hour on the hour so really simple and was something like 12 Euros for a return ticket. If you want to you can walk up behind the hotel and you very quickly are in the more open countryside of olive trees and small holdings studded with cacti. The Mili Gorge is well worth exploring as the vegetation there is so different to everything else around. If you do go, I recommend Cantina Banana to eat at, it’s a very simple menu and a very low-key place, but the food is fab. The Biotopi Nature Park (Bioparc) is on a hill just behind the hotel as well which is an interesting place to learn about the plants of the island and also has the best uninterrupted view of Rethymno around. This hotel’s in a great location and the food and beverage staff really make it a special place. Fist pumps all round. :)
Great time spent!
Here for some days, we were welcomed with kindness and big smiles! The hotel crew are helpful and deeply kind. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The food is good and the service is excellent! I can only recommend this hotel to you!
